Don't be sarcastic; people generally don't have a lot of time for those who use this tactic.
Your Media Policy
ONLINE: To view anytime any where.
Investing in "Your media policy" is win - win.
You win because you'll only enhance your media knowledge.
The media win because they will be dealing with an organization or individual who understands how the media works and what it requires.
How detailed should my media policy be?
The purpose of a media policy is to provide a clear set of protocols for those who work within your company when they deal with any media issue.
- Who is your company spokesperson?
- What can and can't they say to the media?
- Who is incharge of media enquiries?
- Who is responsible for writing and distributing media releases?
- Who takes over from any of these tasks if the person responsible is away?
All of these key topics should be contained in your media policy.
Mixed messages
When your company is experiencing a crisis, make sure that only one official is making comment to the media . It ensures that there is only one message being delivered.
Zip it
Remember, when you arrive for your media conference, some of the cameras may be roling even though the cameraman are still setting up. Don't say anything you don't want quoted before or during your media conference.
